The 1999 Filmmakers Award goes to someone who has become a tradition in his own right, Frank Oz. In a brief decade he has given filmgoers such varied fare as Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, What About Bob?, In and Out, and last summer's hilarious send up of Hollywood - Steve Martin's Bowfinger starring Eddie Murphy. A thirty year veteran of the Jim Henson Company, his directing and/or writing, performing and producing credits include The Great Muppet Caper, The Dark Crystal, Muppets Take Manhattan and last summer's Muppets From Space. Oz also performs such beloved Muppet characters as Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Sesame Street's Cookie Monster. Audiences eagerly await his continuing role as Yoda in the Star Wars sagas.
